At Melbourne he batted for three and a half hours, scoring his last 69 in 96 minutes on a sticky wicket; and at Adelaide he made his 123 out of 183-3 in two and a half hours, when England went in to score 490 to win. He gave only one chance (at 110) in the two innings.
