Only one man, J.T.Tyldesley, scored more runs than Hobbs. One curiosity is that no fewer than eight bowlers dismissed him twice in a match – Wass, Le Couteur, Dennett, Newman, Burns (on two occasions), Relf, Hearne and Blythe – a distinguished group. Hobbs’ 62 against Yorkshire was his first fifty in 23 innings against them; prior to it, his figures read 22–1–311–14.81. Own Team O M R W Opp Ct Total Total 190.
