Northumberland Cricketers 1867-2010

Mad about cricket? You should think about joining the ACS. When it was formed in 1973, the ACS brought together a group of cricket lovers whose special passion was the game’s statistics and records. Statisticians’ interests are still well catered for, but the modern ACS has a much broader scope, in particular the game’s history. So you will find amongst the membership many prominent cricket historians, genealogists and biographers. While articles for publication in print or online are always welcome, most members are happy merely to enjoy the fruits of others’ labours. There is a lively email forum that explores the game’s unusual occurrences and debates the issues of the day. Where will the IPL lead the game? Should Collingwood have retracted his appeal? What makes left-handers so different? Why on earth did they choose Pattinson? Each quarter members receive a journal and have the chance to order books from our many statistical series and from the recently launched Lives in Cricket, a series of short biographies. There are also members’ meetings and events providing regular opportunities to meet fellow cricket buffs. Annual membership costs £16 (overseas £20) with a special under 18 rate of £9. Subscriptions are due on 1 st December, but those joining after 1 st September enjoy a few extra months for their money.
