Northumberland Cricketers 1867-2010

The Club has been very well supported over the years and had a fairly strong County team which headed the tables in 1924 and 1925, won the Eastern Division Championship in 2007 and were runners up in 1955 and 1956. It competed in four Challenge matches and one Championship final but were beaten in each one, never winning the title. The only success the County has ever had was the KO Trophy in 2006. I have been helped in many ways by a considerable number of people from Northumberland who have provided me with much information In particular I would like to thank Alan Stephenson, the Northumberland County Secretary, Ken Norton, Peter Lough, Bobby Dodds, Brian Keenleyside and Brian Stephens who have all provided me with player details as have numerous former players and officials to whom I am also greatly indebted. I have also appreciated the immense help I continue to receive from Tony Webb. The archivists at many schools and university colleges have again willingly provided details when requested. Members of the ACS have also provided information and I would especially like to thank Peter Wynne-Thomas, the late Don Ambrose, Steven Sheen, Stephen Musk, Rob Brooke in this respect. Finally, I wish to thank Peter Griffiths and Philip Bailey for producing the averages from the vast CricketArchive database which has substantially reduced the time needed to complete the project.
