The Ceylon team lacked Crawford and Greswell, but nevertheless gave the visitors a rare fight. Runs had to be struggled for throughout on a wicket that helped the bowlers, and the longest stands in the whole game were one of 28 by De Silva and Pollocks, and one of 30 by Minnett and P. W. Docker. The home side never relaxed its efforts, and right up to the last had a chance of victory. Only needing 74 to win, the N.S.W . men had 50 up before the fourth wicket fell, and were 68 for 4 a little later. Four wickets fell at this total, but then Cameron and H azlitt made the runs needed, and the tourists won by 2 wickets. The bowling of Horan, the left-hander, was quite the chief feature of the match. It should be stated that W addy won the toss, and sent Ceylon in. 19 31 15 .. 207 N.S.W.
