Pollocks, first in, last out, batted well in the Ceylonese first innings, staying 105 minutes, and De Silva played a particularly good game in the second. P. W . CE Y LON E SE X I. A t Colombo, January 6 and 7. This match afforded a. surprising result, the Ceylonese side bringing off a highly creditable victory. The honours of the game rested chiefly with Ahamath, a Malay player, who showed good form for his 59, and the bowlers, Horan and De Kretser, whose perform­ ance in getting out the strong side opposed to them for so paltry a score on a good wicket was a great one. De Kretser took his first three wickets without a run scored off him. Ebsworth, top scorer for the losers each time, hit 2 sixes in his first innings and one in his second. Arnolis and Wickremaratna made a stand of between 50 and 60 for the eighth wicket of the X V III ; Ebsworth hit in great style for his 97, and the captain and Cyril Docker added 74 for the last wicket of the tourists, who won on the first innings b y 146 runs.
