The home side were much more strongly represented than in their previous matches, and Dorset had the help of Webb, Busk, and Walbv. The first day’s play was very even, Dorset leading by a single run when an innings each had been completed, and Berks scoring 135 for 5 in their second. Morres bowled most effectively for Berks, and Walby, Hartley, and Webb did good work with the ball for Dorset. On the Tuesday Hawks worth and Bailey effected a surprising stand at the end of the home side’s innings, and then Hawksworth bowled with such deadliness that Dors'et were dismissed for 94, and Berkshire won by 189 runs.
