Webb played a very good innings and E. N. Crosman and Carey also made runs ; but the rest failed, Vincent bowling in excellent form and taking 6 for 61. At Hampstead, July 13. C. C. Morris, the team’s mentor, played in this game, and was responsible for a fine innings of 92, but for which his side would have made little show. As it was, they only lost by 5 runs, after a good fight, the last man running his partner out by 10 yards in a wild attempt at a second run for a hit only worth one. Brinton (5 for 66) and Garrigues (5 for 51) bowled well. H a m p s t e a d C.C. N e w a r k (174 for 3, dec.) and Grantham (85 for 5) drew on Saturda y R. H. Howitt, the old Notts batsman (60), and E. E. Thrale (53) gave Newark a capital start. G r a n t h a m II dismissed Buckminster Park for 81, and replied with 270 for 9 (C. W. Holmes 62, W.
