Scotland in 1905 was ! ( e ) This may not be to everyone’s taste. (/) A good many will reject this. (To be continued.) ----- +■----- - Two centuries were scored in the North Staffordshire League— by Barnes for Porthill Park and C. H. Price for Stone. Stone were left 2 hours to get 208 v. Silverdale, who had declared, and got them with a few minutes to spare, thanks largely to Price, who hit 17 fours. For Oldfields Riley (Notts) and Forrester put on 90 for the last wicket after 9 had fallen for 33. J. S. Heath took 7 for 47, and Barnes took an enforced rest, having strained a leg. S e d g w ic k , for Knypersley v. Longton, took 8 for 11, and H. E. Bourne made 63* for Knypersley. Day (Leek v. Burslem) had 7 for 16, and Mills (Burslem v. Leek) 7 for 14. I n the Birmingham League the great innings of the day was Grim- shaw’s 122 (3 sixes, 15 fours) for Dudley v. West Bromwich Dartmouth. He followed it up by taking 7 for 35. Dudley declared at 248 for 3, and got out their rivals for 54. T he sensation of the day, however, was at Walsall, where the crowd got out of hand in consequence of umpires’ decisions with which they were not in agreement, and police protection was necessary for the white-coated officials. Fereday made 101 for the visitors, Handsworth Wood, N. Hewson 64 for Walsall. The match ended in a tie— 205. S t o u r b r i d g e had 5 down for 19 v. Mitchell and Butler’s, but got to 105 after all, and made the brewery side fight hard for their win by 3 wickets. K i d d e r m i n s t e r beat Aston Unity by a wicket. A. Devey scored 82 for the losers, and W. H. Greenway took 6 for 55. For the winners S. J. Gethin had 5 for 32. J. Piggott (85) and A. J. L. Neale (83) helped Smethwick to a substantial win over Moseley. B l a c k b u r n (8 for 62, Brighouse v. Rastrick), Riley (6 for 29, Keighley v. Skipton), K. A. Lister-Kaye (7 for 19, York v. Hull), and Yeadon (6 for 56, Bowling Old Lane v. Barnsley) earned distinction as bowlers in Yorkshire Council matches,
