In the Park-, Oxford. June 1 and 2. B y no stretch of the im agina tion could the F.F. side be called a strong one. The only regular first-class player on the side was M clver ; but the reappearances oh Buchanan, de Trafford, and Major Turner were welcome. E . A . Shaw kept for Oxford ; all the other men had played in one or more of the earlier matches. The first three Forester batsm en all p layed freely and w e ll; but of the rest only Turner and W ilkinson did anything. Knight m ade runs quickly and stylishly for Oxford, getting his 61 in 55 minutes, with 9 fours included. Colm an also showed form , and Bristowe hit out nobly, depositing two successive balls on the pavilion roof. The score— 212 for 6 at the close— was only taken to 267 on Tuesday, no one doing anything after Shaw and Bristow e had left. The Foresters failed in their second innings, Bristow e again bowling well, and Oxford had an easy victory b y 6 wickets. F r e e F o r e s t e r s . In the Central Lancashire League Cranfield had 7 for 33 (H eywood v. Rochdale), Lashbrooke, who has been tried for Essex, made 75 and took 5 for 24 for W erneth v. Oldham . J. A. Lowe and Barrell, each m aking a century, added 227 (said to be a record partnership in this League’s games) for Crompton v. Moorside after 3 w ickets had fallen for three runs. L u c k in , formerly of the Hampshire ground staff, had 6 for 25 for Moseley v. Mitchell and Butlers, who were all out for 47. Sm ethwick beat W est Bromwich D artm outh by 3 runs (117 to 114) after having 6 down for 64 and 9 for 105. Bucknell for the winners had 9 for 47, Corfield for the losers 7 for 46. For Stourbridge v. A ston U nity, T. Allchurch took 6 for 39. There was no very big scoring in any of the Birmingham League m atches, the highest individual efforts being H. A. Parkes’s 69 and R. I. Scorer’s 67, one for each side in the Hands- worth W ood v. Dudley game. In the North Staffordshire League bowlers had the best of the deal, and such analyses as Barnes’s 6 for 19 (Porthill Park v. Leek), D ay's 5 for 24 (Leek v. Porthill Park), Sedgw ick’s 6 for 21 (K nypersley v. Fenton), Barber’s 8 for 48 (Longton v. Crewe Alexandra), Pointon’s 5 for 8 (Burslem v. Common for Boldon : but in each case the big scorer’s side lost. Am ong the best bowling feats of the day were Clode’s 7 for 38 (W earmouth v. Eppleton) and Hendren’s 6 for 26 (Sunderland v. Whitburn). Rothery m ade 87* for W'earmouth.
