NEW SOUTH W ALE S. A t Brisbane, November 21, 22, and 24. Neither side was at anything like full strength, the visitors lacking nearly all their crack players, while Queensland had to do without Evans, Hartigan, Redgrave, McLaren, and Hayes. Ratcliffe, who was to have kept wicket for N.S.W ., had a hand injured at practice, and E. L. W addy took his place behind the stumps. Thomson won the toss from W addy ; but no one did anything big for Queensland, the best stands being 73 for the first wicket (Fennelly and Sheppard) and 53 for the fourth (O’Connor and Thomson). For N.S.W . Cranney rattled up 56 in three-quarters of an hour, and Pratten and Collins added 69 for the fourth wicket. The pitch had suffered from the effects of a thunder storm on Saturday ; but the visitors carried their overnight score of 182 for 5 to 247. In Queenland’s second Fennelly played a really fine innings of 131 (eleven 4’s), batting 203 minutes without a single bad stroke. O ’Connor and Rowe helped him to add 84 and 64 respectively ; but the rest failed, only totalling 18 among them. Two of the visitors’ wickets fell cheaply ; but then Collins and his captain collared the bowling, and hit off the runs. Apart from Fennelly’s century, the great feature of the game was K ellew ay’s capital bowling. He took 11 for 82. N.S.W . won b y 8 wickets. Q u e e n sla n d . First Innings. Second Innings. S. J.
