In getting the wickets of Crawford and Paterson so cheaply Williams also rendered good service. ALL BURMA v. CEYLON . Played at Rangoon on December 21, 22, and 23. Played at Hongkong on November 11, 12, and 13, the vistprs—captained by Livy Walker, of Surrey and London County C.C. fame—going under by an innings and 36. The fact that they only utilised four bowlers while Hong kong were scoring as many as 417 runs suggests a weak attack, in point of numbers, at least; but why did not Walker try his hand? He used to be a pretty useful bowler. That he has not forgotten how to bat seems sufficiently attested by the fact that he made the highest individual score for his side in the match, though V. H. Lanning had a larger aggregate. R. Hancock captained the winners. H o n g k o n g . R. Hancock, c McEuen, b Quayle 41 A. C. E. Elborough, b Quayle ... 53 Capt. Crawford, c Walker, b Quayle 4 G. R. South Australia match at Melbourne, and that of the New South Wales v. South Australia match at Sydney, both early in January. South Australia beat Victoria by 68 runs—309 (Crawford 83) and 128 to 229 arid 140 (Baring 76). The second innings’ scores suggest rain during the match. Ryder took 13 for 155 for the losers, and Whitty 5 for 65 in Victoria’s second.
