A t Brockton Point, Vancouver, Septem ber 20. E xcept in the matter of fielding- the local fifteen made a very poor show, and Ivam y, who scored 31 in the second in n in gs and took three w ickets, including: those of B ardsley and Mayne, alone came out of the match with added credit. M acartney did not hurry him self; he was in 2\ hours for his 100 (thirteen 4,s). C raw ford hit hard for his 95, one tremendous six over the fence from a drive eliciting- hearty applause. A fte r dis posing. of the local fifteen for 139, the A ustralian s m ade 633 between 1.45 and 6 o’clock; and the report to hand tells us— how the V an couver w ickets f e l l! C ave and B an bury made a stand of 4g for the eighth w icket and the latter played particularly good cricket, h ittin g eigh t boundaries in his 53. A s to the A ustralian s, the inform ation one gets is that it would be “ invidious to p articu larise.” B ut it would not have been invidious to detail the chief scorin g strokes, and to giv e the runs for the fa ll of each w icket, surely? B ardsley hit out of the ground six tim es. P erhaps the batsmen moved too fast for the chroniclers of the gam e. T hree of them made centuries, it w ill be seen, and another was not far short of three figures. W. Hearne is a grou nd s man at V ancouver, and a member of the fam ous E n g lish fam ily of professionals. No an alysis available; bu t M ailey took s for 21, and nine V an couver bow lers had a trial. K illick kept w icket well. A l l V a n c o u v e r (X V ). N. H. Peters, b Emery .............. 6 W.
