A t Poona, A u gu st 28 and 29. L a st year M ajor G re ig got up a team to meet the H indus; but this year the side which took the field again st them was a Presiden cy one (though the difference was little more than nom inal), and in future a match between the two teams at Poona is expected to be an annual fixture. T h e present gam e had no very out standing features. F o r the Presiden cy this seem s a lean year, and even G reig did little in this gam e. Sempre, h igh est scorer in each innin gs for the H indus, also took 6 Wfickets for 64 in the P residen cy’ s second, and had a great share in his side’s success by 6 w ickets. P r e sid e n c y . T h e Parsis tried two new men, V azifdar and M irza, and in the match the latter took 5 w ickets for 16, though the conditions were such that too much importance m ust not be attached to these figures. T h e Presidency had a strfrng side, including- such cracks as Col. Poore, M ajor Greig-, and Colbeck, the dashing Cantab*of a few years ago; but they had no luck at all. On the first day the P arsis were at w ickets till close on time, and ran up the good, but not great, score of 249. K an ga and D river played capital cricket, and M ulla slogged fiercely. Warden and K apadia, from whom much was looked for, failed, however, and the tail did little. Dobbie, a new comer to tjiese matches, bowled well. T h e Presidency had scored 5 for 1 at draw ing of stumps. T h e rain came down all n igh t, and in the m orning the pitch was a beauty—
