T h e d istin ction fell to L eek, and their su ccess was v e ry popu lar, for o f late vears th is old club has been down on its lu ck , and in both 1 9 1 1 and 1912 had to a p p ly for re-election. Fenton and L eek were in opposition , and Fenton (the hom e team) were the favou rites, bu t they lost an e x c itin g and sm a ll-sco rin g stru g g le by 4 runs. D a y and D . C o c k e r e q u a lly d ivided the Fenton w ickets, for 33 and 22 runs resp ectively, and D ey es eclipsed them both b v ta k in g 8 for 21. J. J. Aw ty batted fin e ly for 35 for the losers. B a rb e r bow led finely (8 fo r 20), and has taken 23 w ickets in his last three m atches.
