M ead made his eighth century of th e season, and, battin g 140 m inutes in splendid style, his placing b ein g first-class, hit seven teen 4 ’s. B ow ell made 32 o f the first 4 0 ; M ead and A b ercom b ie added 72 for th e fourth, and Jaques and K enn ed y 53 for the last w icket. H is w icket gave N ewm an 100 captures for th e season, and the H am p shire pro shonld also get his 1,000 runs b efore the campaign ends.
