C ivil Service (Dublin). The Hon. L. Tennyson and Lieut. C. H. Abercrombie, R.N ., are only a brace of instances of what quite a num ber of other old public school boys and Services men would do— if they had the opportunity. Cricket cannot be of much account in Belgium if the form against Ayr is to be taken as a guide. In the first raatch the Belgians were all dismissed for 17, W. R. Drin- nan taking six wickets with six successive balls ! Then J. Ferguson (154) and J. J. Maybin (122'*) each helped him self to a century. In the Tyneside League six games produced four cen turies, a 99, a 93, and four scores between 50 and 60. Yet the bowlers had their say in those six games, too. Whereas St. George’s made 282 for 5 v. Backworth Percy, South Northumberland 260 for 4 v. the County Club, Tynemouth 260for g v. Tynedale, and Benwell Hill 207 for 7 v. Ryton, on the other hand Backworth Percy were out for 73, Old Novocastrians (v. Benwell) for 80, and Ryton for 113. W a n t e d . —Volumes of C r i c k e t for 1888, 1890 and 1894.
