M arzetti sent up 82 unparted before close of play, and reach ed 125 n ext morning before the latter left. R o b erts, who had t.een top scorer in the first innings with 43, was out at 309 for a brillian t 162. T h e closure was ap p lied at 341 for eight. But U p p er T o o tin g made runs fast and well, and were 275 for three at the finish, H oskin s (95) and Y ates (83) having added 146 for the second w icket. T h e latter m ade 158 for once out in the match. F or years p ast Mr. W VV. G ill has annually taken a team o f the D ulw ich club to tour in K en t. T h is year, for the first tim e, the tour had the clu b ’s official imprimatur. A ll six m atches were won, a splendid result when the strength o f the sides met and the plumb w ickets played on are taken in to accou nt. A full accou n t o f the tour has reached m e ; bu t it com es too late to be given in extenso (the first m atch was as far back as July 24), and I can only find sp ace for a few notes con cern in g it. T h e sides m et were F olkeston e, beaten by 252 for 3 to 190 (and F olkeston e is n ot an easy side to b eat at an) tim e ); St. Law rence, C an terbury, beaten with 8 w ickets in hand, but D ulw ich suffered a slum p afterw ards, and the rest w ent for 12 m o re; H yth e, beaten by 231 for 4 to 209 ; C hartham A sylum , who made 74 and 106 for 4 to D ulw ich’s 144 ; Shorn cliffe G arrison, who gave the side their hard est fight, and on ly went under b y 38 runs (206 to 2 4 4 ); and T on brid ge, again st whom D ulw ich declared at 282 for 7, an d then got their opponents out for 193. G ill lost the toss in all the first four m atches. T he great su ccesses o f the team were C . V . Jones, a new member this year, A . H . W illiam s, P . H . Slater, E J Bridger, who bow led con sisten tly well (32 w ickets for 4 15. runs) never b ein g collared, and through the week keeping one end goin g for all but 8 overs in all, a n d R. S. M . P o rter (like Jones a new member), whose wicket- keepin g was excellen t. O thers d id well, but these were most prom inent. Jon es m ad e 10 5 * v. F olkeston e, 49 v. St. Law rence, and 10 1* v. T on brid ge, S later ran up 112 at Shornclifife and 60 at T o n b rid ge. K n ow le and D orridge have been perform ing better of late and are evid en tly feelin g the benefit o f their D evon tour, although not a m atch th ereof was won. O n Saturday, A ugust 2, the O ld W avw ickians were encountered, and although the latter had been in sp lendid form all the week, K n ow le and D orrid ge ran up 333 for nine in abou t 2^ hours, H .
