Gentlemen of Philadelphia v. Australian Team. Although the score of the gam e between the Australians and X V III. of Schenectady, N .Y ., has not yet come through, that of a match (the third, I understand) with the Gentlemen of Philadelphia has arrived, and is given hereunder. The match was played on the ground of the Merion C .C ., at Haverford, on June 28 and 30. The Saturday’s play seems to have been shortened by rain, for only 140 (for 8) were scored in the course of it. The batting of C. C. Morris, who did well here w ith the Philadelphian Team of 1903, scoring a splendid 164 v. Notts, w as its chief feature. He made 78 of the first 104, Furness helping him in a stand of 61 for the fourth wicket. Willard Graham also showed up well. When the Australians batted Mayne left at 29; but Cody and Macartney added 179 for the second wicket, and later Bardsley and Crawford put on 78 for the fifth, while the left hander and Arnott had added 67 unparted when time came, and the match was left drawn.
