On the first day the Australians ran up a biggish score, declared, and put out the local side for 76. On the second day the Edmonton team batted again ; but rain stopped play when 15 of their wickets had fallen. This was treated by the local reporters as a second match. It may possibly have been so; but the same side was played (except that Weaver took the place of the wicket-keeper, Read, who had been hurt), and in the ordinary course of events they would have followed on, so that it seems reasonable to regard the second day’s play as part of the original match. The Edmonton Capital has a weird account of the game, some extracts from which will be given elsewhere, if room can be found for them ; but it contains nothing from which one can deduce any information of the kind to which the readers of C r i c k e t are accustomed. At Prince Albert two day games were played instead of one of two days. In the Saskatchewan XI. Chaney, Kirby, and Weaver represented Prince Albert; Edwards and Holmes were from Regina, Wakeling and Higgs from Saskatoon, Smith from Leask, Challoner from Indian Head, and Howell from Moosomin. The tourists did some big scoring, and the closure “ was thoughtfully made” at 471. No details of partnerships are available; but the account leads one to suppose that 6’s were more than usually numerous. Weaver and Kirby batted yery well for the home side; but the total was a poor one. No bowling analysis available; but Crawford had 3 for 8, and _Mailey 4 for “ a mere song.” “ Brief life is here our portion,” perhaps— no, that’s a hymn ! A u stralia . E. R.
