On average, too, he is ahead in battin g of eve ry one b u t J. L . T ate, who did n ot p la y regularly. L . T . W ea ver was som ewhat less co n siste n t; b.ut he tw ice reached th ree figures. Derrick Wanderers held a highly successful Smoking Concert in the Hamilton Hall of the Great Eastern Hotel j on Friday, December 6. Sir Arthur C. Cory-Wright, Bart, J.P ., took the chair, and a strong muster of mem- ! bers and friends attended. Mr. F. T. Evans, the energetic Iand capable hon. secretary, is to be congratulated on a complete success. Bu t then this was the club’s fifteenth ; annual function of the sort, and F. T. Evans is no new hand at the game, so that a success was only to be expected. I regret that circumstances prevented my ! being present, as I had meant to be. The meeting of the Durham Cricket League was well attended, only Hendon failing to send a representative
