Meanwhile one significan t item in th e accoun t of th e proceedings at the m eeting on D ecem ber 6 m u st be noted here : “ A request w as read from Mr. E . R . M ayne askin g for san ction to ta k e a p riv a te team from A u stra lia to Am e rica n ex t y ea r. T h e B o ard declined to gran t perm ission.” T h is looks as though th e p ro jected Am erican to u r w ou ld h a v e to be abandoned, or wou ld on ly be proceeded w ith a t th e price of another rebellion. B u t po ssib ly th e m a tte r w ill be reconsidered ; M a yn e’s request seems to h a ve been tre a ted a trifle summ arily. -------------------- To Our Readers.
