The W est Indian side a t B ou rda on March 6, 7, 8 and 10 was scarcely a rep resen tative one, lackin g as it did Tarilton, C. A . Browne, C onstantine, and others. M. B . G . A ustin captained, and again w on th e to ss; b u t th is tim e th e w ick et was perfect, and he n a tu ra lly decided to b a t first. There was a cap ita l crowd on th e first day, and it saw a good start made b y its representatives. Moulder and Ince to o k the score to 62 before th e y w ere parted, and O livierre h it well for 45. B u t after th a t o n ly Rogers could do an yth in g w ith Relf. In second w icket down, he carried his b a t for a capital 69. In 65 m inutes 80 runs were added for th e last w icket. John came ou t w ith a cap ita l analysis ; b u t th e bow ling suffered from w an t of v ariety, p ra ctica lly a ll of it being fast. The great featu re of th e W est Indies’ second innings was Moulder’s fine battin g. In fact, he p layed rig h t through, and n ever gave a chance in his 104, th e first cen tu ry made at B ou rda again st an En glish team . H u nterhelped him to send u p 84 before a w ick et fell, and O llivierreagain hit ou t finely, m akin g 56 of the 83 added for the sixth w ic k e t; bu t no one else did an yth in g. M .C.C. won b y 10 w ickets, thus p ulling off the rubber in the test m atches, in reference to which W est Indian jou rn alists in consequen tly w rite of " the ashes going hom e.” First iuuings.
