Chamberlain 29), and beat Glenelg, who could only make. 41, by 117 runs on the first innings. In the second venture of Glenelg, who just saved an innings defeat, scoring 105 for 9, J. N. Crawford hit up 51 in little over half an hour. He also took 5 for 53; F. T. Hack had 4 for 37. For E. Torrens, L. W. Chamberlain took 2 for 27 and 6 for 18. P o rt A delaide v . S turt.— Sturt scored 216 for 4 (P. W. Zschorn 113, S. Leak 58*) after Port Adelaide had made 146 on a soft, sticky,wicket (E. Brausch 35, R. Moroney 26, P. Ruifdell 23), and won by 6 wickets and 70 runs. Price had 5 for 46 for Sturt. Zschorn and Leak added 163 while together. W est T orren s v . N orth A d elaide.— North Adelaide scored 192 (R. B. Rees 45), and won by 48 runs, W. Torrens making 144 and 62 for 3. The winners had 5 down for 63 at one stage, but Rees and the veteran, J. C. Reedman, added 71 for the sixth, and pulled the game out of the fire (W. Torrens had batted first). Reedman (4 for 53) was the most successful bowler in the game, too U niversity v . A delaide .— Another veteran, J. F. Travers, won the toss for Adelaide, and sent University in first. They scored 235 (A. G. Moyes 75, H. B. Willsmore 43). On the following Saturday Adelaide made 263 for 5 (E. Kitson 105, C. Backman 46), and won by 5 wickets with runs to spare. BRISBANE (F irst -G rade M atches , O ctober 5 and 12). S outh B risbane v. W oolloongabba II.— S. Brisbane declared at 265 for 1 (W. V. Hayes 157*, O’Connor 126), and beat their opponents by an innings and 136 runs, the totals being 89 and 40. In Woolloongabba’s first Hayes took 6 for 32 ; in the second Georgeson had 6 for 14, Haussmann 4 for 19. T oowong V. V alley .— The former won by 69 runs on the first innings, scoring 236 (E. K. Armstrong 54, Frew 54, Shield 45), and 96 for 2 (Frew 47*) to 167 (Ayres 42) and 97 for 3. N orth B risbane v . W oolloongabba I.—The former won by 29 runs on the first innings, making 196 (R. W. Law 47) and 129 (S. J. Fennelly 48) to 169 (Benjamin 44, Bolton 35). N undah v. T oombul .— Nundah won by 13 runs, scoring 298 (Garvie 96, R. K. Oxenham 55, Peoppel 51) to 285 (W. T. Evans 62).
