H. W . W eston— who will yet, I believe, make a lot of runs for Middlesex if he is persevered with and can find time to play— was a tower of strength to them , heading both batting and bowling averages and scoring three centuries (v. Neasden, R ichm ond Park and Old Blues). But the side had other good men and true. W. S. R oberts (whose century was v. Old Olavians) only played a few times ; but H. W . M cRae has capital figures in batting, and the tw o Capps, F. W . as batsman, and P. E. as all-round man, did good service, while C. H . Dw yer bowled finely. W A LH AM G R E EN C.C. : 1912. The Cyphers were not quite satisfied with their season, for the first X I. won only two more matches than they lost, the second lost two more than they won, and three defeats in the four evening games gave the club a debit balance. But in other respects there is room for congratulation. A considerable influx of playing members has decided the comm ittee to run three Saturday teams in 1913 up to the end of July, and affairs financial are highly satisfactory. Though only five players average over 20, there are so m any between that figure and 15— men playing regularly, too— that it is evident the clu b’s batting strength is considerable. P. B. W yes, one of the youngest players on the side, has the highest aggregate and a capital average. He is, too, a splendid field. The all-round play of G. Radcliffe, M. A. D oggett, S. R ow e, W . W . Pullen, L. A. C. Gale and L. M. Simmons was excellen t; and the last-named, working untiringly as a bowler, has 66 wickets to his credit. C. E. W atson and R . H. Jones batted well when available. The batsmen with big figures were only occasional assistants ; and the first team depended chiefly upon A. E. Hughes, H . J. B. Sworder, and R . H . Sym onds for runs, while C. Pascoe did splendid work at the bowling crease. The second team had very capable batsmen in G. C. D uff, J. C. C. Sharman, C. Collier, and H. R . W ilson, all playing regularly, and were lucky in the possession of half-a-dozen or so very useful bowlers, of whom R . L. YVorkman— a happy name— seems to have been the best.
