By “ C e l t . ” The last game of the H ighland season took place on Saturday, and an unexpected win by Porres St. Lawrence over the Northern Counties decided the championship, Elgin City retaining that honour, which they won in 1910 and 1911. This tells of improve ment in the eastern H ighlands, as the only other eastern club to be cham pions was Inverness St. Andrew’s (1899, 1900, and 1901). This year St. Andrew’s have not won a m a tch ; but they will come again, I am sure. Nairn and Forres tie for second place. If Northern Counties had been playing at hom e they would have had a stronger team, no doubt. They could only make 42 (J. L. Mackintosh 18). J. Younie took 6 for 30. Forres replied with 74 for 9, M. J. Grant-Peterkin top scorer with 16. C. B . Matheson (4 for 26) was the Counties’ m ost effective bowler. The B om bay Tournam ent is a Quadrilateral this year. In the first round the M ohamm edans, taking part for the first time, beat the Presidency, and the Parsis defeated the Hindus. T he final ended in victory for the Parsis over the Mohammedans by an innings and 177 runs. The scores and an account of the tournament will appear in our next issue. Mr. V . A. McKillop. The batsman who headed the averages of Portland— the only team from outside British Columbia takiug part— in the Tournam ent at Victoria in August is, as his name suggests, a , Scot. V ictor Alexander M cKillop was born at Slamannan on May 25, 1887, and was educated at Trinity College, Glenalm ond, where he was in the eleven from 1901 to 1903. In the latter year he also played for Stirling County. On leaving school he emigrated to New Zealand, and spent some three years there. In 1906 he removed to the Pacific coast of the United States, and has played a big part in the development of the game there. In 1910 and 1911 he was in specially fine form . H is Mr. V. A . M cK ILLO P . chief scores in the form er year were 109* for Seattle v. A lbion C.C. at Victoria during the Tournam ent of that year, 98 v. Saanich, 98 v. Strawberry Vale, and 85 v. the Garrison (all in Tournament m atches), 122 for Seattle v. A lbion C.C., 81 v. Portland, and 65* v. Victoria, all at Seattle. H is figures for his club were 17 innings— 4 not outs— 767 runs— average 59 00. In 1911 Seattle reached the final in the Tournam ent at Victoria, but went under to the Victoria club in the last m atch. MoKillop scored 118 v. A lbion C.C., 79 v. Saanich, 50 v. Burrard, and 108 v. the Navy. H e also made 101 v. Albion C.C. at Seattle. This season the Seattle club did not send a team to Victoria, but M cKillop helped Portland, and, though falling below his form of 1910 and 1911, was quite the best batsman on the side. The section of the Australian Team returning via America left Southampton on Wednesday for New York, travelling by the 9.40 a.m . train from Waterloo. TR IANGU LAR TOU RN AM EN T: 1912.
