On Monday and Tuesday in last week the Gentlemen of Esi-ex played Colchester Garrison. At the last m om ent C. B. M cGahey and B. Campbell were unable to play, which seriously weakened the visiting side. J. W . Egerton-Green and D. Mustard made between them 137 of the 175 from the bat scored by them , the rest doing very little indeed. The garrison started badly, but the Bev. F . G. D. Webster and Capt. G. H . S. Fowke put a different com plexion on matters, though the form er had som e luck. Fowke’s innings was a very good one indeed. They added 122 to­ gether. The Garrison led by 59. B. B. L incoln and Egerton-Green put up 53 for the first wicket of the Gentlemen of E ssex in their second innings; but then a rot set in on a crum bling wicket before the bowling of Fowke and O. B. Graham, and in the end the total was only 105, and the Garrison won by 10 wickets. Several prom inent clubs held their annual Weeks from July 29 to August 3, inclusive, aud one can only regret that the weather did not behave itself nicely. Am ong the W eeks was that of Bichm ond
