Cricket in the Scottish Highlands. B y “ C e l t .” In the Northern Meeting Park Inverness, Saturday last, an exceedingly interesting and good display of cricket took place between the Northern Counties, Inverness and Nairn County. The weather was all that could be looked for, until near the close of the game, when a heavy shower came on, but in spite of this the players continued. It however cleared off before the time for drawing stumps arrived. Batting first the Northerns gave a good exhibition, specially Major Brown and R . H. C. Duncan, the former in his usual finished style getting 7 1 and the latter, in a very polished way, getting 4 1. J . L . Mackintosh, late of Sedbergh School, hit well, as he always does, for his 42 not out. The innings was declared closed at 205 for 6 wickets. Nairn County also gave the spectators a good exhibition especially that sterling batsman Bert Sinclair, who when time was called had 42 not out. He was ably assisted by D. A . Maclean, who got 23 and N. G. Pearson who got 24. N airn’s total when time was called was 1 15 for 4 wickets. Forres St. Lawrence journeyed to Inverness and scored a victory at the expense of the Citadel C. C. Batting first the Citadel made a most surprising collapse against very indifferent bowling, only getting 36 runs. This the Forres men wiped off in a very short space of time, and when play ceased to allow the visitors to catch their train, they had 13 5 runs for 7 wickets. Bowling for the Forres side, Brands had 6 wickets for 24. The Inverness Saints motored to Fort George to play the 93rd and came home with another defeat against them. Batting first they reached a total of 74, W . Gray being top scorer with 15, Lieut. Peareth of the 93rd getting 5 of their wickets for 18 runs. The total score of the m ilitary reached 126, Lieut. Steel getting 34, Sergt. Markey 22, Lieut. Peareth 13 , Lieut. Ayloun 13 and Lieuts. Purves and Clark 1 1 each. FO R S A L E .—A few copies of “ Surrey Cricket and Cricketers” (Rev. R . S.
