Jones, of N.S.W., was adjudged run out after “ over ” had been called, and, in consequence, after many words, he was reinstated and the game proceeded. Two of the Victoria team, W. N. Greaves and George Marshall, and their umpire (Smith) declined to take any further part in the game and returned to Melbourne. In consequence of the dispute the two sides did not meet again until December, 1865. C. Lawrence took 14 of the 18 Victorian wickets credited to the bowlers-—7 for 48 and 7 for 25. 1863-64. Visit of the second English team— captained by George Parr— to Australia. Twelve matches were played in Australia, besides four in New Zealand, all against odds, and seven of them were won, five drawn. No toher English team has gone to Australia and returned undefeated. England v. X X II. of Victoria, at Melbourne.— T.Lockyer stumped 6 and caught 5, and R. O. Tinley took 19 wickets for 115 runs—-11 for 52 and 8 for 63. Mr. T. W. Wills travelled 1800 miles, from the north of Queensland, to take part in this match and arrived too late. England v. X X II. of Bendigo, at Sandhurst.— J. Jackson took 13 wickets for 22 runs (6 for 10 and 7 for 12) and R. C. Tinley 27 for 57 (13 for 35 and 14 for 22). England v. X X II. of Ballarat, at Ballarat.— R. C. Tinley took 23 wickets for 70 runs (13 for 20 and 10 for 50). England v. X X II. of Ararat, at Ararat.—-The locals were dismissed for 35 and 34, R. C. Tinley taking 26 wickets for 45 runs, J. Jackson 7 for 11 and Dr. E. M. Grace 7 for 4. T. Lockyer stumped 9, and no-one reached double figures in either innings of Ararat. After the “ match ” G. Tarrant played single-handed at single-wicket against eleven. The result was a tie, each side scoring 4. Nine of Tarrant’s victims were clean-bowled, one l.b.w. and one caught-and-bowled. England v. X X II. of Maryborough, at Maryborough.— R. C. Tinley took 22 wickets for 72 runs (11 for 24 and 11 for 48) and J. Jackson 6 for 5. England v. X X II. of Castlemaine, at Castlemaine. R. C.
