Cricket 1911

548 CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECOED OF THE GAME. S ept . 23,1911. 8 five each, 4 six each, 3 seven each, and one (Philip Mead) as many as nine. Forty-two of them were recorded in May, 65 (one running into July) in June, 80 (including five innings begun on the 31st, but not finished till August 1st) in July, 59 (including one finished on September 1st) in August, and 11 in September. There are as many as twenty-seven new names in the list (omitting that of Dr. Kanga, who has reached three-figures in a first- class match, Parsis v. Presidency, in India)— those o f : Alletson, M. P. Bajana, Booth, I. P. F. Campbell, D. C. Collins, G. E. Y. Crntchley, J. S. Denton, Dipper, Drake, F. R. Foster, Freeman, Haywood, Hendren, Hitch, Hubble, Jennings, E . L. Kidd, Make peace, R. P. Meherhomji, Morton, Hon. H. G. H. Mulholland, H. E. W. Prest, Remnant, A. T. Sharp, P. Shivram, Smith (E. J.) and Tyldesley (W.) Of the 257 centuries recorded 216 were made in County Championship matches, and 41 in other fixtures. It would not be necessary to give the former but for the unfortunate fact that the table given by the Rev. R. S. Holmes in last week’ s “ Notches” was not only one short in the total, but wrong in four places in the figures The gentleman who contributes statistics to the “ Sportsman ” also went wrong in two instances, the full total of county centuries against Somerset being 17, not 18, and aga;nst Sussex 21, not 20.
