At a meeting of the Committee of the above club held in Manchester on the 1st inst., it was decided that a letter be written to Warwickshire, congratulating them on winning the Championship. It was reported that fixtures had been completed with the Australians and South Africaus to play matches against Lancashire at both Liverpool aud Manchester next season. The Middlesex match is allotted to Liverpool. The Colonial fixtures are as follows : Lan cashire v. Australians, at Manchester, in June; Lancashire v. Australians, at Liveip ol, early in Ju ly; Lancashire v. South Africans, at Liverpool, August 1st, 2nd and 3rd; Lancashire v. South Africans, at Manchester, about the middle of August. The Lancashire v. Yorkshire match next year will be played at Bradford. Mr. T. J. Matthews, the secretary, was presented with a hand some silver salver, the gift of the Committee, on the occasion of his s lver wedding. Mr. James Horner, who for many years was hon. treasurer, added a personal present, consisting of a set of Russian salters. SUSSEX v. WORCESTERSH IRE . Played at Hastings on August 31, September 1 and 2 and won by Worcestershire by six wickets. The Sussex batting in this match was somewhat disappointing, only Relf (A. E.) making much headway in either innings. He drove particularly well and offered no chance. Worcestershire had half their wickets down for 95, but Burns and G. N. Foster put on 73 together and the latter and Cuffe 114. Foster hit a 6 and thirteen 4’s. Left with 152 to win, Worcestershire, in obtaining the number, owed much to a fourth-wicket stand of 99 by Bowley and Burns. Score and analysis :— S u ss e x . .............. 25 First innings.
