Cricket 1911
494 CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. S ept . 2, 1911. In addition Mr. Higson has taken over a hundred catches, a number which no one else approaches, of course, though Mr. Sell, next to him the most regular player, has been credited with as many as 55. Mr. Higson’s four centuries have been : 200 v. Yorkshire Gentlemen in 1910 ; 192 v. Scarborough in 1903 ; 120 v. Sedburgh School in 1905 ; and 103 v. Lincoln Lindum in 1911. No apology need be made for dwelling thus upon the perfor mances of one player, for the individual record of the old Rossallian captain is of real interest on its intrinsic merits, and everyone who has come into touch with the club has learned to recognise in Mr. Higson not only its crack all-round player, but its very life and soul. He originated it, and it is due almost, if not quite, entirely to him that year after year it has carried out highly successful tours. May it long flourish, and may many years pass before the good right hand of T. A. Higson shall lose its cunning with the ball or his bat seem to grow less wide ! 7 t h M a t c h . — v.
