Cricket 1911

464 CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. A u g u s t 26, 1911. WORCESTERSH IRE v. HAMPSH IRE . Played at Worcester on August 17 , 18 and 19 and won by Worcestershire by eight wickets. H am pshire, lacking the services of some of their best amateurs, won the toss but were put out for 254 despite a second wicket stand of 1 3 1 by Mead and Stone. That total the home side had no difficulty in surpassing, Bowley and Pearson making 87 for the first partnership and Arnold and Burns 129 for the third. Arnold’s innings was quite free from fault and lasted three hours and contained thirteen 4’s. During the second day 503 runs were obtained for seventeen wickets, Worcestershire scoring 272 for eight and Ham pshire 2 3 1 for nine. The visitors lost Mead and Stone without a run between them upon going in the second time, and although Brown made 65 by very attractive cricket and McDonell and Newman added 54 for the ninth wicket, W orcestershire were set a very easy task.
