A u g u s t 19,1911. CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 453 YORKSH IRE v. M IDDLESEX . Played at Bradford on August 14, 15 and 16 and left drawn. Everything on the first day was dwarfed by the batting of Tarrant, who scored 207 not out in about five hours without a m istake. It was a m asterly innings. Tarrant hit two 6’s and twenty-seven 4’s, and put on 129 for the fourth wicket with Hendren and 70 for the eighth with Saville. N otw ith stand in g mistakes in the field, Yorkshire could reply with no more than 218 , Mignon being seen at his best. Booth played a most useful innings, and Drake helped him to add 58 and J. P . W ilson 53. The visitors’ second innings was marked by some sound batting by the younger Hearne, who put on 79 in an hour with Douglas and 110 (for the third wicket) in 80 minutes with Warner. When the innings was declared Yorkshire was left with 422 to make in 4 hours 20 minutes, and, owing largely to Hirst, Drake and Booth, the match was saved. Score and analysis :— First innings. M i J.
