430 CRICKET: A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. A u g u s t 12,1911. KEN T v. HAMPSH IRE . TWO SEPARATE 100’S BY FRY. Played at Canterbury on August 7, 8 and 9 and left drawn. For the fifth time in his career F ry made two separate hundreds in a match, but in neither innings was he seen at his best. He gave no actual chance in his first display, but in his second (which lasted four hours) was m issed when 59 and 8 1 and once later. In his first innings he made 65 with Bowell and 1 16 with Brown, and in his second caused considerable discussion by an action whilst Blythe was bowling. (See Gossip.) W oolley’s innings, though marked by chances when 20 and 104, was a brillant display which contained a 5 and seventeen 4’s. He made 76 with Humphreys (Woolley claim ing 55 of the number) and 60 with D illon, who was responsible for a skilful 73. Sprot hit freely when Ham pshire were batting the second time, arid made his 61 out of 89 in 54 m inutes, and the side’s last 158 runs were obtained in an hour and a-half. There was no likelihood of Kent making the necessary 335 in 160 minutes, and they did well to score 223 for three wickets. Score and analysis :— First innings. H ampshire . C. B.
