Played at Worcester and won by Kent by nine wickets. The Champions owed a great deal to Humphreys and Hardinge, who made 110 for the first wicket in 100 minutes in the first innings and 93 in the second in 50 minutes. The batting by the other members of the side was disappointing. Arnold himself played a fine first innings of 83, batting for three hours and hitting eight 4’s. W ith H. K. Foster he added 132 for the third wicket in an hour and a-half, and with Turner 60 for the eighth in 40 minutes. H . K. Foster, after taking some time to settle down, hit brilliantly all round, and in scoring 89 hit as many as fifteen 4’s. In his second innings he was bowled first ball, but G. N. Foster and Burns atoned to some extent by putting on 76 together in an hour. Worcestershire, though lacking the assistance of Simpson-Hayward, enjoyed the services of three of the Fosters.
