On the first days both sides effected a recovery after a collapse, but Yorkshire gained a lead of 123 on the innings. Denton and Oldroyd put on 84 for the sixth wicket and the latter and Bates 105 for the seventh. Oldroyd, who carried out his bat for 75, played a valuable, defensive game. In making 59 for Notts, Gunn (G.) hit seven 4’ s but gave two chances. In Yorkshire’s second innings W ilson and Bhodes made 122 in 100 minutes for the first wicket and Denton and Drake hit up 60 in three-quarters of an hour.
