Cricket 1911
J u l y 22, 1911. CEICKET: A WEEKLY EECOED OP THE GAME. 363 SUSSEX v. WARW ICKSHIRE . TWO SEPARATE HUNDREDS BY KINNEIR. Played at Chichester on July 17, 18 and 19, and won by Warwick shire by 80 runs. Kinneir gave no chance in either innings, and batted *220 minutes in his first and 210 in his second. A feature of his displays was his cutting, which was very clean. In his second innings Foster stayed whilst 114 were added for the fourth wicket in 65 minutes, but the others could do little against the elder Relf. The Sussex batting was, on the whole, disappointing, although Smith and Relf (A. E.) put on 125 together in the first innings and Vine was seen to advantage in the second. HAMPSH IRE v. MIDDLESEX . Played at Southampton on July 17, 18 and 19, and won by Middlesex by 127 runs. In making 269 the visitors owed much to fortune, for Tarrant, who put on 143 with Hearne (J. W .), was missed at square-leg when 17. He batted 150 minutes and hit twenty- one 4’s. Hampshire, thanks to a faultless eiglith-wicket stand of 109, led by 4 on the innings, but blunders in the field enabled Middlesex to obtain a winning score when they went in the second time. Hearne (J. W.) and Hendren put on 95 together and Murrell and Hearne (J. T.) 65. The batting on the third afternoon was weak, only Fry, who showed capital form, doing anything. Apart from Woolley, who batted two hours and hit IB fours but was missed when 37, 93 and 101, no batsman obtained a real mastery over the attack until Hubble and Prest added 143 for tbe sixth wicket in Kent’ s second innings in 95 minutes. Worcester shire, set 447 to win, were dismissed for ‘292 and beaten as stated. Cuffe made 75 and put on 165 for the sixth wicket with Bums, who was very fortunate, being missed when 0 and 16, but hit finely. Score and analysis :— First innings. K ent .
