THE ALL IND IAN TOUR. 4 th M atch .—v. CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY. Played at Cambridge on June 12, 13 and 14. Cambridge University won by an innings and 71 runs. So much progress was made with this match on Monday that before stumps were drawn the University had made 434 and got two of the visitors out for 28. Mulholland and Collins made 259 for the first wicket in less than two hours and a-half. The former, missed when 87, hit a 6 and twenty-one 4’s, and the latter, whose play was flawless, ten 4’ s. Prest and Saville afterwards hit freely, but Baloo, who changed his pace cleverly, came through with eight wickets for 103. On Tuesday, despite a fine innings of 53 by Mistri, the visitors had to follow-on 251 behind. By the end of the day they had three men out for 99, and on Wednesday were beaten by an innings. REMARKABLE FEAT BY M R. C. J. B . WOOD. Yorkshire won by five wickets. Wood played a most valuable innings on the first day, scoring 109 not out in four hours and a-half without a chance and hitting eight 4’s. W ith Lord he added 97 and with Coe 71. By consistent run-getting Yorkshire obtained a lead of 25 on the innings, Rhodes and Boothboth exceeding 50. In Leicestershire’s second innings Mounteney, doing better than ever before, scored 96 of the 147 put on for the sixth wicket—he hit two 6’s and twelve 4’s—and Wood again carried his bat through for a faultless three-figure score. Yorkshire were left with 272 to make, and, thanks to a fine innings by Denton and a series of useful partnerships, the runs were obtained with five wickets to spare.
