T H E A L L - IN D I A N TO U R . 3 r d M a t c h .— v. M.C.C. AND GROUND. Played at Lord’s on June 8 and 9. ROYALTY PRESENT. M.C.C. won by an innings and 168 runs. Apart from Major Mistri’s first inDings, the batting of the visitors was very disappointing. The player named scored 78 out of 106 in 80 minutes by brilliant cricket at a critical time. He hit sixteen 4’s and reached 53 out of 73 in 57 minutes. His off-driving was especially good. Mulla, playing more sedate cricket than usual, helped him to add 71 for the fourth wicket in 35 minutes, and, later, Warden and Baloo put on 55 for the eighth wicket. The M.C.C., for whom Sewell, the ex-Essex player, made his first appearance (as a member), obtained a lead of 264 on the innings. Three wickets were down for 67, when Lawton joined Sewell and hit freely. He made 40 of the first 50 runs scored whilst in and, altogether, claimed 75 of the 112 added for the fourth wicket in 55 minutes. Sewell and Weigall, both of whom reached three-figures, put on 139 for the fifth wicket in an hour and a-half: the former was missed when 2 and the latter when 42. Medlicott made two drives over the pavilion rails for 6 each off Warden, and Tufnell, by means of a 6, three 4’s and a 2, made 20 off Kanga in an over. The innings lasted four hours and three- quarters. The visitors collapsed for 96 in their second innings, in which, owing to the absence of the Maharaja at the Colonial Office, there was a tea interval of 35 minutes. On the first day the Prince of Wales and Prince George of Wales were present at the match, and the Maharaja was presented to them. Score and analysis:— F irst in n in gs. A ll I n d ia . Major K. M.
