Gouly, the well-known West A ustralian cricketer, died of cancer at Perth on April 15th. He played a fine not out innings of 69 against Mr. J . -J. Lyons’ South A ustralian team in 1905-6 and made useful scores against the En glish team in 1907-8. M r . C. B. P E A C H E Y . Mr. Charles Bernard Peachey, who died at Crowborough, Sussex, on May 22nd, at the early age of 42, was well-known for m any years in connection with the Esher C.C. T h e Bev. S. C. SP EN C E B -SM IT H . The Bev. Spencer Compton Spencer-Sm ith, who died in London on May llt b , and was buried at Kingston, W areham, Dorset, of which place he bad been Vicar since 1877, was in the Eton Eleven of 1860. H e did not take part in the match with Harrow, but he played with some success against both W inchester and M .C.C. In the former match, which W inchester lost by 19 runs, he scored 8 and 12 , being run out each time. Among his contemporaries were J . Bound, Hon. T . de Grey, B . A. H . M itchell, P hilip Norman and the Hon. C. G . Lyttelton. After leaving Eton, Mr. Spencer Sm ith proceeded to B alliol, Oxford, but did not obtain his blue. J . D. B . A young man named C. H . Sm ith, who went over to Melbourne as captain of a Sydney team, stepped through the window of the Grand Hotel and fell to the ground, receiving such severe injuries that he died a few days later—on April 16th. It is supposed that he walked in his sleep, as he had his pyjam as on when picked up.
