In the Annual Report, issued recently, it is stated that Surrey, in common with many other counties, suffered financially from the effects of bad weather, the accounts showing a loss of £427 6s. 8d. on the year’s working. In consequence the Committee wish to emphasize the great necessity of securing new members. Apted’s benefit was in every way satisfactory and, after investing £1,000 on his behalf, the Committee were enabled to hand over to him upwards of £400. During the coming season home and away matches will be played with all the first-class counties and with Cambridge Univer­ sity. Oxford University will be met at Oxford in May, and the All- Indian team at the Oval on June 29, 30 and July 1. Gentlemen v. Players will take place on July 6, 7 and 8, the net receipts of which will this year, together with those of the Gentlemen v. Players at Lord’s and the three trial matches, be pooled among the first-class counties, the M.C C. and the Minor Counties. The Champion County v. England match will be played on September 11, 12, 13, and 14. Books of tickets giving admission to the ground on ten occasions can be purchased in the office, price 4/6 per book. The Annual General Meeting will be held in the Pavilion on Thursday, May 4, at 5 p.m . The Committee, having decided to recommend that the entrance fee be dispensed with in connection with lady members, the meeting will afterwards be made special to amend the latter part of Rule VI. to read as follows :— “ Ladies are eligible to be elected members of the Club upon payment of one guinea annual subscription.
