THE EN C Y C LO P ED IA OF SPORT.* Almost tbe whole of Part VII. of this pub lication, which completes the first volume, is devoted to Ciicket, and it may at once be said that the subject is dealt with in an interesting and exhaustive manner. We would strongly advise all active cricketers and followers of the game to obtain this particular issue, for it is a complete treatise on the game and one wbich enables even the reader who is not particularly interested in cricket to pass a pleasant hour. 3 he opening article, which deals with the game generally, is from the pen of the late Mr. W. J. Ford, whilst Banjitsinhji writes on “ Batting,” Mr. F. G. J. Ford on “ Left- Handed Batsmen ” and Australian Cricket, T. Bichardson on “ Fast Bowling,” Mr. B. J. T. Bosanqnet on “ Googly Bowling,” and Mr. M. O. Kemp on “ The Wicket- Keeper.” Every branch of the game is dealt with, and, in addition to an interesting list of records and a glossary of terms, there is a section devoted to the bibliography of the game. There are numerous illustrations. * The Encyclopaedia, of Sport. Vol. 1, part 7. London: Mr. William Heinemann, 21, Bedford Street, Strand, W.C. Price, Is. net.
