S e p t . i , 1 9 1 0 . CRICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 379 HAMPSHIRE v. KENT. Played at Bournemouth on August 29, 30 and 31. THE BOUKNEMOUTH FESTIVAL. Drawn. Heavy rain delayed the opening of this m atch until 10 m inutes to twelve on Tuesday, when Kent, having won the toss, w ent in first on a soft wiuket. Fry m ade his first appearance of the year for H am p shire, and took the field 50 m inutes late. A t 25 Hum phreys was caught at slip, but with K nott and Seym our together runs cam e readily, the score at the end of an hour being 71. When the second w icket had added 49 in 40 m inutes K nott was out to a w ell-judged catch in the long-field, and w hen tho total had been taken to 107 w ithout further loss, rain caused play to cease for the day. On W ednes day the w icket was still easy at the start, and Seym our and Hutchings stayed together until their stand had realised 56 in 45 m inutes. Follow- ing the form er’s dism issal six wickets.went down for 27, five actually falling w hilst 7 w ere made, and then Blythe helped Mason to add 54 for the final partnership. H utchings played free bright cricket for an hour and h it a 6 and nine 4’s. Ham pshire fared badly upon going in and had lost three w ickets, all for ‘21 runs, to W oolley when lunch was taken. With 26 added Fry was out to a fine catch in the country, and at 70 Knott got rid of L lew ellyn in the same position. The last-named hit three 6 ’s. Bow ell and Sprot also m ade useful scores, but K ent led by 60 on the innings. The visitors, going in again w ith a draw certain, lost six w ickets for 93 before tim e arrived, only H um phreys and Blythe m eeting with m uch success. Score and analysis:— K ent . First innings. WARWICKSHIRE. Played at Blackpool on August 29, 30 and 31. Drawn.
