When Buchanan went in, last man, 13 runs were required, and when four were needed Minnaar was bowled by Short with a no-ball. The majority of the names of the players will be familiar to Englishmen. Horwood and M. and A. Bisset have toured this country with a South African team ; George Hearne is a son of Frank Hearne, who played for K ent; W. Yeoman, R. P. B. Davis and P. T. NEW SOUTH WALES 1 st XI. v. 2 n d XI. Played at Sydney on November 13 and 15 and left drawn. Gow and Cranney made 182 for the first wicket of the Second Eleven in 70 minutes, the former claiming 110 of the number. Gow, whose innings was said to be one of the best ever seen on the Sydney ground, hit eighteen 4’s. Leslie Minnett did well to take five wickets for 09 runs in a total of 445 . E. L. Waddy, hitting two 6 ’s and twenty-five 4 ’s, made 112 in one hundred and thirty-eight minutes ; he hit 21 (five 4’s and a single) off an over from Sayle aud punished the next —from Conolly— for 18 (4, 1, 6 , 6 , 1). He and Diamond added 252 for the third wicket. The Second Eleven made 445 in three hours forty-one minutes and the First Eleven 507 in four hours and three-quarters.
