Hampshire v. Surrey, at Portsmouth, July 20th, 21st, and 22nd.—J. N. Crawford made 124 out of 187 in 85 minutes without a chance, hitting four 6’s and sixteen 4’s. Essex v. Nottinghamshire, at Leyton, July 20th, 21st, and 22nd.—In the first innings of Essex C. P. McGahey hit a ball from Hallam (A. W.) over a wing of the pavilion and out of the ground. Kent v. Surrey, at Blackheath, July 23rd, 24th and 25tb. — In the first innings of Surrey Hayes (E. G.) scored 49 by means of eight 4’s and seventeen singles. Middlesex v. Lancashire, at Lord’s, July 23rd, 24th, and 25th.—In the second innings of Middlesex B. J. T. Bosanquet made 100 out of 149 in 95 minutes. Nottinghamshire v. Gloucestershire, at Nottingham, July 23rd, 24th, and 25th.—In the first innings of the latter G. L. Jessop scored 75 out of 80 in 65 minutes, reaching 52 out of 54 in half-an-hour. In his second innings he made 50 out of 58 in 38 minutes and, in all, 78 out of 86 in 63, scoring 28 off two overs. Surrey v. Sussex, at the Oval, July 27th, 28th, and 29th —In the early part of the first innings of Sussex a couple of cats at play led to a brief stoppage of the game. Yorkshire v. Derbyshire, at Leeds, July 27th, 28th, and 29th.—After dislocating a finger in Derbyshire’s first innings in en deavouring to make a catch, Wilson (B. B ) played an innings of 109. Lancashire v. Essex, at Manchester, July 27th, 28th, and 29th.—In the second innings of Essex Beeves, W. (61) made 50 out of 72 in 75 minutes. Leicestershire v. Nottinghamshire, at Lei cester, July 27th, 28th, and 29th.—W. W. Odell, in the former’s first innings, made 74 out of 101 in 75 minutes : he reached 50 out 61 in 45. Hampshire v. Kent, at Southampton, July 30th, 31st, and August 1st.—In the second iunings of Kent C. H. B. Marsham (64 not out) and Hardinge, H. T. W. (59) made 50 in a quarter of an hour: off the first six overs they scored 56. Gloucestershire v. Middlesex, at Bristol, July 30th, 31st, and August 1st.—Tarrant, F. A. (152), in the first innings of Middlesex, made nine 4’s in successive scoring strokes. In Gloucestershire’s first innings Langdon, T. (95), when 49, batted 25 minutes without increasing his score. G. L. Jessop made 72 out of 122 in 80 minutes and 34 out of 36 in 25 : in all, 106 out of 158 in an hour and three-quarters. Middlesex won by 2 runs after the game had been a tie on the first innings. Essex v. Northamptonhire, at Leyton July 30th, 31st, and August 1st.—In their first innings the latter lost their last five wickcts with the total unchanged. Surrey v. Philadelphians, at the Oval, July 30th, 31st, and August 1st.—In the first innings of the County Marshal (A.) scored 58 out of 80 in 85 minutes and in the second 103 out of 134 in 105, reaching 50 out of 71 in an hour. In the first innings Hayes (E. G.) made 58 out of 87 in 70 minutes. H. Teesdale batted steadily each time, scor ing 15 out of 85 in an hour and a-half and 24 out of 134 in an hour and three-quarters : during the last 35 minutes he was at the wicket in his second innings he did not add to his score. Kent v. Sussex, at Canterbury, August 3rd, 4th, and 5th.—The first 51 runs of the part nership of S. H. Day (114) and J. R. Mason (60) were made in 20 minutes. Gloucestershire v. Essex, at Bristol, August 3rd, 4th, and 5th.— In his first innihgs G. L. Jessop made 45 in 25 minutes •whilst Board (J. H.), who was in with him, scored only a single. In his second innings he made 68 out of 83 in an hour. Reeves (W.), in the second innings of Essex, scored 53 of the 58 runs made for the first wicket in 35 minutes with J. W. H. T. Douglas. Derbyshire v. Hampshire, at Derby, August 3rd, 4th, and 5th.—In the first innings of the former the last wicket—Warren, A. R. (68) and Bestwick, W. (17*)—added 66, and in the second 65, Warren making 55 and Best- wick 11*. The last wicket in Hampshire’s first innings put on 40. Worcestershire v. Warwickshire, at Wor cester, August 3rd, 4tli, and 5th.—Whilst H. K. Foster (215) and Cuffe, J. A. (87) were together, the Worcestershire score was taken from 200 to 300 in 40 minutes. The h me side made 556 in five hours and a-half. Somerset v. Middlesex, at Taunton, August 3rd, 4th, and 5th.—B. J. T. Bosanquet (63) and C. C. Page (29) added 81 together for the sixth wicket in 25 minutes in the first innings of Middlesex. Kent v. Hampshire, at Canterbury, August 6th, 7th, and 8th.—In the first innings of Hampshire (178) the last six wickets fell for 11 runs, Hants, set 266 to win in five hours n a wicket not perfect, won by one wicket five minutes before time. When Stone, J. (22*) and Newman, J. (31*), the last pair, came together 51 runs were still required and 55 minutes remained for play. Surrey v. Middlesex, at the Oval, August 6th, ,7th, and 8th.—In the first innings of Middlesex P. F. Warner (78) made 50 out of 66 in 85 minutes. Essex v. Sussex, at Leyton, August 6th, 7th, and 8th.—In catching Mead (W.) in the first innings of Essex Butt (H. R.) took his 1000th wicket in first-class cricket. Leicestershire v. Derbyshire, at Leicester, August 6th, 7th, and 8th.—Woodcock (A.) re-appeared for the home side after an absence of five years. Worcestershire v. Lancashire, at Worces ter, August 6th, 7th, and 8th.—In the first innings of Lancashire Tyldesley, J. T. (101*) and Sharp, J. (70) made 171 of the 210 runs obtained from the bat. Worcestershire set 234 to win, made 235 for one wicket, Pearson, F. (116*) and G. N. Foster (79*). Gloucestershire v. Worcestershire, at Bris tol, August 10th, 11th, and 12th —S. E, Busher, who made his debut for Worcester shire, had played earlier in the season for Surrey v. Gentlemen of England at the Oval. Yorkshire v. Middlesex, at Bradford, August 10th, 11th, and 12th.—In the second innings of Yorkshire, Denton, D. (63*) made 50 out of 70 in 50 minutes. Hampshire v. Somerset, at Southampton, August 10th, 11th, and 12th.—Somerset, set 292 to win, made that number for three wickets, Brauud (L. C.) scoring 124* and S. M. J. Woods 105*. In the first innings of Somerset P. R. Johnson made 117 out of 174 in two hours. Sussex v. Surrey, at Brighton, August 10th, 11th, and 12th.—In Surrey’s first innings Marshal (A.) made 88 out of 117 in 65 minutes whilst in with Hayward (T.), hitting five 4’s off Leach (G.) in an over.
