CR ICKET A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME O c t . 28, 1909. CRICKET IN INDIA. T H E T R IA N G U L A R CO N TE S T. The Triangular Contest iu Bombay between the Presidency, Parsis and Hindus took place in the middle cf last month and was, unfortunately, interfered with by rain. It wriis, however, found possible to play the first g«me to a finish, but iu the second— between Presidency and Parsis—only eighteen wickets fell. On the second day of the Hindu mutch over 10,000 persons were on the ground before noon, notwithstanding that a delay in the resumption of play was assured owing to the state of the wicket: “ .t leing a public holiday, the tents on the groun I abutting the Esplanade Road were crammed with spectators, while the Waudby Road bou da'y was equally crowded.” In 1907, the first year iu which it was held, the Triangular Contest was won by the Parsis and in the following year by the Presidency. 1 st M a tc h .— PARS I S v. A local report stated that “ The game was very interesting and the good plays were applauded by the gallery. . . . Mr. Harrington, one of the visitors, caused amusement in the ninth wicket by stooping to get out of the way of a ball from T. Old ham and the ball went over his head and took the wicket. . . . Cole, for the home team, was the only one at bat any length of time, and then, after making 52 runs, he was retired on a catch of the smallest kind of a pop fly, which shows how easy it is to be retired in cricket.” Score and analysis G entlem en of I relan d .
