Cricket 1909
A u g u s t 12 , 1909. CR ICKET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. 327 almost assured. Lees got rid of Douglas at 4 and Hendren at 8, but Warner, fortunately for the side, was at his best and received some useful support. With Tarrant 46 were added for the third wicket, with Susskind 69 for the fourth, and with Hebden 52 for the fifth. The seventh and eighth wickets fell at 183 in one over from Hitch, and, with Mignon away, only Hearne was left to play out the remain ing 15 minutes. This he succeeded in doing, Middlesex saving the game amid some excitement. Warner, first in, carried out his bat for an excellent 106 after batting 230 minutes. He hit eleven 4’s, and, apart from a chance to Hayes ofF Lees when 75, made no mistake. Score and analysis :— S u r r e y . First innings. Second innings.
