i g o CR ICK ET : A WEEKLY RECORD OF THE GAME. J une io , igog. LANCASHIRE v. WARWICKSHIRE. Played at Liverpool on June 7 and 8. Lancashire won by an innings and 122 runs. Winning the toss, Hornby decided to send Warwickshire in, and the action was thoroughly justified, the visitors collapsing in an hour and a half for 04. Baker batted an hour for 25 and was the only one on the side to reach double figures. Dean, varying his pitch and pace with much skill, took nine wickets for 35 runs, bowling unchanged through the innings with Huddleston. Lancashire lost Makepeace, Bartley and Sharp for 44. The brothers Tyldesley then came together and had put on 33 in 40 minutes when the elder was hit by a ball from Foster and obliged to retire. Ernest Tyldesley and MacLaren gave Lancashire a good lead, for during the hour and a half they were together they added 128 for the fourth wicket. MacLaren hit a dozen 4’s during the 100 minutes he was in and was seen at his best, whilst Tyldesley (E.) showed excellent form on his first appearance for the county. When stumps were drawn Lancashire had made 234 for six wickets. On Tuesday Lancashire gained a lead of 206 on the innings, after which Huddleston and Dean again shared the wickets between them with the result that the home side won by the great margin stated.
