To Mr. Charles Plairre has again fallen the lot of describing the struggle for the Championship, and he has accomplished his task with the happiest of results. There are several other very interesting illustrated articles in the Companun, which, like Rood wine, seems to improve with age. It is capital value for the small sum asked for it. * Ayres' Cricket Companion. Edited by W. R. Weir. London: F. H. Ayres, 111, Aldersgate Street, E.C. Price, (id. After an existence of ten years the London County C.C. reverts to the old title of the Crystal Palace C.C. CRICKET IN THE WEST INDIES. Last month a team under the captaincy of Mr. F. H. Grant, of the Wanderers C.C., left Barbados in order to play a series of three matches in St. Lucia. The account and score of the first game are appended:— ST. LUCIA v. BARBADOS. Played at St. Lucia on November 19 and 20. Barbados won by seven wickets. The success of the visitors was very meritorious considering that a matting wicket is a novelty to them, and that they did not have an opportunity of practising on one. In the second innings of St. Lucia, Richardson and Galt put on 94 together for the third wicket. In the final stage of the game Abrams made 36 in about eight minutes, scoring 20 off an over from Augustine. Score and analysis :— S t . L u cia . First innings. T.
